Season 3 North American LCS Super Week Preview

Published on Leaguepedia on 8/12

It’s a mess.

Let’s be honest, the North American LCS standings are a mess. Currently, there are no 4th, 5th, or 7th place teams. Instead, three teams sit at 11-12 and two teams at 9-14. Some teams who have consistently beaten higher ranked teams still sit behind those teams in the standings. What does this all mean?

It means it’s a mess, and from the looks of it, it’s not going to get much better after this week. Let’s take a look at the teams participating in Super Week who aren’t named Cloud 9.

Going into Week 9, the standings are Team Vulcun in 2nd place, with Counter Logic Gaming, Team Dignitas, and Team SoloMid sharing 3rd place. Sixth place is held by both Team Coast and Team Curse, and Velocity eSports makes the caboose.

North American LCS Summer Promotion Qualifier Previews

*Published on Leaguepedia on 5/9

Things have been rather quiet here in the Western Hemisphere. It’s been two weeks since we last saw a North American LCS match, and the silence was a welcome reprieve from the chaos that transpired in the playoffs. But as silence tends to do, it’s starting to drive us mad. We crave action. Thankfully, the Summer Promotion starts this Friday, May 10 at 11:00 AM PDT. Heavy consequences will befall the defeated, particularly if they are Team Dignitas and Counter Logic Gaming. The very foundations of the League of Legends pro-scene could be altered, or even shattered, if they fail to qualify for the Summer Split. Team MRN and compLexity Gaming are also on notice to shape up or ship out.

Note: This piece was originally published on Leaguepedia on 4/25

The first 10 weeks of Riot’s inaugural LCS season has been a roller coaster ride. We’ve seen undefeated titans fall farther than anyone expected, and familiar faces ostracized by their teams. The journey concludes here. The teams that started this season are a shade of who they once were; their identities twisted and molded by 10 weeks of battle on Summoner’s Rift. Whether the change is for better or worse will be determined by upcoming matches. The LCS Playoffs are about to start.

Skunked. Goose egged. Putting up a donut. However you want to frame it, Dignitas was outplayed by Counter Logic Gaming in the last match of Wednesday’s LCS Super Week. It wasn’t for a lack of trying; Dignitas was proactive at the start, taking some risks to swing the game in their favor. Their plans just ended up backfiring.

NA LCS: Vulcun Claws Back to Drop Dignitas

Nearly one hour. That’s how long it took Vulcun to recover from a shaky start in their match against Dignitas. The faulty early game made the comeback victory all the more sweeter, as Zuna tore everything and everyone apart with his Tristana play. Turrets, inhibitors, Baron kills … Zuna was a one-man wrecking crew, both unstoppable and uncatchable. While Dignitas started out strong, Vulcun eventually pushed back hard enough to create opportunities and secure the victory. It just took longer than they probably wanted.

NA LCS: Dignitas Steamrolls Undefeated Curse, Extends Win Streak to 7

The most anticipated match of the Wednesday LCS Super Week featured two big-name teams with big-time goals. Curse, the current titans of the NA LCS, aimed to remain undefeated. Dignitas looked to both legitimize and extend their already impressive win streak by taking down Curse. While both teams traded kills early, Dignitas’ pace allowed for an utterly dominant win, giving Curse their first loss of the season.
